Opticon OPN-2002 - Compact and affordable barcode laser scanner with iPad, iPhone and iPod compatibility

Opticon has announced that the OPN-2002, a Bluetooth data collector, is now compatible with Apple’s iPad, iPhone and iPod touch running the newest operating system iOS 4.

Small and extremely lightweight, this data collector is embedded with a class leading laser barcode scanner and weighs less than 30 grams, making this device truly pocketable. The OPN-2002 connects wirelessly over a Bluetooth connection to transfer barcode data directly to an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. It is ideal for end users who are looking for a low cost solution to add scanning capabilities to non-scanning devices but don’t necessarily require the additional benefits a mobile computer provides.

Whilst the OPN-2002 is scanning into the iPad, the device still allows the user to turn on/off the virtual soft keyboard to enable manual data entry from the iPad keyboard whilst keeping Bluetooth paired connection. The device is simple to configure with Apple products and does not require any additional software or application to install.  The OPN-2002 is also an ideal mobility partner for connecting to Bluetooth enabled devices such as PDAs, rugged laptops, tablet PC’s and clinical assistants.
